Turkey Holidays
Turkey holidays are great to uncover the football crazy, football mad fans and take in a game or two of some of the most competitive games you will see. We all love a good grudge match where the stakes are high and it is visible by the strong challenges and great attacking football they provide. That is pretty much an average fixture in Turkish leagues, such is the passion.
With well renowned teams such as Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray who all play in the Turkish top fight you will have some great football to see. Though on your Turkey holidays you will notice all these teams play in the districts of Istanbul, which is Turkey’s capital city. This, however, isn’t particularly a bad thing because you will at the same time be able to take in the sights and architecture of the city and you will be in awe of the mixture of modern buildings in one area and the stylish old structures of the past.
Whilst football remains the current national sport the country’s more traditional one is oiled wrestling which has been popular since the times of the Ottoman Empire. Whilst enjoying your Turkish holidays you should take time out to experience this very old sport which has an annual tournament in the city of Edirne which is located to the west side of the country.
One of the most popular sporting events on the calendar is based in Istanbul and has only being hosted there since 2005; it is of course the Turkish Grand Prix. The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) decided to include Turkey on the list of destinations and it has boosted the sport’s popularity in the country.
On your Turkey holidays you will discover the electric atmosphere that is produced when a major sporting event is taking place and it is a great experience that will warm your heart to the Turkish people and their culture.
